Summer Vibes at Senato Hotel Milano

08/07/2023

The next "Urban Garden Milan" is just around the corner. We have asked Fabrizio Oriani, AKA DJ Faber Zee
some tips about the event, his DJ SET and about the dress code to wear...

Fabrizio Oriani - aka DJ Faber Zee, Founder and Creative Director of GWD.

#UrbanGardenMilan is now in its second season at Senato Hotel Milano. How would you describe this event to those who don't know it yet?

#UrbanGardenMilan is first and foremost a communal moment of listening  and dancing to music carefully selected in a special and unique and chilled location.

There are two important elements that distinguish our evenings: one is the premium drinking experience that allows our guests to sip spectacular cocktails. The other is diversity & inclusion: a moment of enrichment for everyone, with music athe fundamental bond that holds it all together.

#UrbanGardenMilan is a musical journey (R&B, HipHop, Soul & Funk) from OldSchool to the latest sounds.

How did your passion for DJing start?

Music has always been a family art. From my grandfather who played the cornet in the Bersaglieri band to my uncle who was a pianist. In fact I started playing the piano as a child until I chose the electronic organ when I was part of a band as a teenager: Then I discovered the music that I still play and enjoy. I started going to clubs, seeing and studying the figure of the DJ, with a passion for foreign music, which I have brought together here.

For #UrbanGardenMilan a special drink list is designed for the occasion. What is the importance of the right cocktail in your opinion?

When we came up with #GrownNSexyUrbanNight (our artistic movement), we thought of ourselves as party-goers who often found ourselves in situations where fundamental elements were not taken into account. Playing the genre we liked, the choice of the location —which is meant to make you feel good by simply being in the right place—  and the drinking experience, because it is an essential part of the experience as everything else.

As a philosophy of life, I always try to do qualititative things, so when I thought about #UrbanGardenMilan, I wanted to offer our audience a superior drinking experience. That's how we asked a very talented young mixologist, Vittorio Prigioni, to create a signature drink list, with the only request being to use high-quality raw materials and mix them with his imagination. Once again there is the bond with music: each drink is named after the title of an iconic song for our community (e.g. the "California Love").

A 'dress code' in 'White' is planned for the next appointment. Any advice on outfits?

If we open a small parenthesis on my work, (creator, founder, and creative director of GWD, a digital and social platform, which tells men's lifestyle stories) our inspirational motto has always been from day one "Build Your Own Style!". We provide tools, such as photos, videos, and stories, and through the sensitivity, talent, and desire of those who follow us, everyone has the opportunity to create their own style.

My advice for a 'White Party' is to understand the situation, choosing quality fabrics such as linen and cotton but without being afraid to be daring... if you feel good in sandals and the temperature is in line with your choice, why not?

How do you see Milan today?

I've been living in Milan since 10 years. From the EXPO, the city has been growing exponentially, unstoppable, the best place to live and work in Europe! Then, the Pandemic made us suffer because the relationship between the Milanese and the city is deep and you pass on what you experience. But Milan is once again becoming the creative and professional hub of a part of Europe. I have seen some beautiful moments, such as Fashion Week, the Salone del Mobile, and the great upturn in tourism.

Usual question: 3 things to do in Milan?

I think Milan is one of those places in the world where you can really do what you like. If you want to go and eat any kind of cuisine, Italian or international, you can do so, and with great offers. Moreover, being geographically close to wonders such as Lake Como, the great lakes or unexplored places in Brianza, in just 50 minutes by train you can find yourself in spots that are unique in the world, such as Varenna, on Lake Como. And then it is a city that offers the possibility of broadening one's knowledge. If a tourist comes to Milan and wants to take a walk in the city center, he will meet people from all over the world who can share incredible stories with him.

Walking in Milan is truly a unique experience. The city is not very big and is wonderful to visit on foot. There are secret gardens, doorways, old signs to discover along with modern showrooms. Getting lost in Milan with your head in the air is one of the best approaches to discovering hidden treasures, both for those who come here for the first time and for those who live here. Raise your eyes and you may catch a glimpse of Gio Ponti's architecture, magic is just around the corner.
