Best of both worlds: Italy
10/10/2024
A journey through objects, ideas, and beauty. From April 1st to June 15th, Milan hosts a century of visions, forms, and insights that narrate the rare and extraordinary encounter between art and design.
Within the industrial halls of the former Centrale Edison—now home to the ADI Design Museum—Best of Both Worlds: ITALY comes to life, an exhibition that spans one hundred years of Italian design. From Futurist utopias to the contemporary trends of collectible design, passing through the functional elegance of the postwar period and the radicalism of the 1970s, each object on display is a fragment of a broader story: that of a country that has made visual thinking its true vocation.
We love it because
The exhibition unfolds between iconic masterpieces and unexpected discoveries, weaving together materials, techniques, and visions that reflect the creative power of Italian design. Each piece tells the story of an era, a gesture, a challenge. And in the background, the echo of Ettore Sottsass’s words: “Design exists to return a sense of sacredness to objects. Only then can we break free from deadly automatism and return to ritual”.
An unmissable opportunity for anyone wishing to understand the cultural DNA of Italy—and for those, like us, who believe that beauty is not a luxury, but a daily necessity.
