Ugo Mulas

Autumn in Milan is enriched by the retrospective dedicated to Ugo Mulas, one of the masters of Italian photography, at Palazzo Reale from 10 October. A few steps away from the Senato Hotel Milano, the exhibition celebrates the artist who captured the soul of the 20th century with his lens.
Mulas is known for his portraits of contemporary artists such as Lucio Fontana and Andy Warhol, and for his series of ‘Verifiche,’which explores the potential of photography. His works are a dialogue between visual art and reality, making him one of the main witnesses of the art scene of the 1960s.
The exhibition brings together his most iconic images, from Pop Art and Arte Povera portraits to the Venice Biennials, as well as the photographic experiments of the ‘Verifiche’.

From his early experiences in theatre and fashion to his famous portraits of internationally renowned artists, protagonists of American Pop Art, intellectuals, architects and prominent figures from the worlds of culture and entertainment - such as Dino Buzzati, Giorgio De Chirico, Marcel Duchamp, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Arthur Miller, Eugenio Montale, Louise Nevelson, Gio Ponti, Salvatore Quasimodo, Giorgio Strehler, Andy Warhol, and many others.
